Background
Spotify is a great service and discovering new music is a fun part of what they offer. It's probably my fault, but I don't always know when new albums come out from artists that I already enjoy. It's annoying to find that someone put out a new release a few months ago and I just didn't know.
Plan
Build a service that lets you easily sign in with Spotify. Pull the artist information for each user. Check new releases periodically and send notifications when there's a match.
